Unique Eugene Steam Beer

The California Common style of beer was born during the gold rush of the 19^th century. Frontier brewers brought their lager yeast with them, but without the availability of refrigeration they had to ferment at higher than usual temperatures. The resulting beer was unique enough to cement itself in history. This brew has a Carastan and Victory malt character, and is balanced using Northern Brewer and Cascade hops.

1.054 OG, 58 IBU

It is highly recommended to use the liquid yeast strain suggested for this recipe in order to attain results appropriate to the style of beer.

Recommended yeast:

Liquid: WLP810 San Francisco Lager Yeast

Dry: Saflager S-23
